AI Tester Accreditation
Programme

AI Tester Accreditation Programme (AI TAP) accredits testing service firms that can technically assess AI systems for safety, reliability, and governance risks. Accredited firms are recognised by AI Verify Foundation as having possessed the technical competencies and operational readiness to evaluate AI systems against a defined scope. AI systems developers and deployers, and their end users will have greater confidence in the AI that have been tested by the accredited firms.

This is the first programme of its kind in Asia, aiming to establish what good AI assurance testing looks like.

Why are we doing this?

As AI adoption accelerates, the importance of having AI systems independently assessed is increasing. However, technical testing services which require specialised expertise remain in nascent supply. Businesses thus face a challenge in selecting qualified third party AI testing firms to technically assess their AI systems. This creates an opportunity for AI Verify Foundation to work with the industry to shape the standards for technical testing.

The programme aims to build a pipeline of competent testing firms that can assess AI systems across industries, from healthcare and finance to recruitment and public services. This will provide businesses greater confidence in the assessments made by accredited testing firms, which they can use to build confidence with their stakeholders.

Who should join the Programme?

Technical Testing Service Providers Benefits
Companies that offer a business service (not just testing product) around the technical testing of Generative AI applications
  • Boost your credibility. Gain formal recognition for your technical testing capabilities, backed by an independent accreditation process
  • Connect with potential customers. Get access to curated opportunities and introductions to organisations seeking accredited AI assurance testers
  • Differentiate in a growing market. Showcase your capabilities and stand out as the demand for AI assurance services continues to grow
  • Shape emerging standards. Contribute to the development of standards and best practices in AI technical testing

Scope of accreditation

Interested assurance testing service providers will be assessed according to the following criteria:

Focus Evaluation Objective
Testing Service Assessment Technical Ensure technical competency by validating claimed specific testing services against guidelines e.g., IMDA Starter Kit for Testing LLM-Based Applications for Safety and Reliability
Company Assessment Good Standing Ensure good standing through relevant track record, with a commitment of business activity in Singapore
Financials Ensure financial sustainability
Operations Ensure operational readiness and capacity
Business Scope Ensure declared business scope matches actual capabilities
IMPORTANT:
  • Accreditation under AI TAP signifies that a testing firm has demonstrated the competency to conduct assessments within a specific, documented scope and coverage of risks, supported by clear evidence and reasonable proof of findings. While it is not a guarantee or certification that AI systems are completely safe or free from all risk, it provides organisations engaging these AI tester(s) with greater confidence in the quality and rigour of the AI testing performed.
  • To help procuring organisations make informed decisions, the following should be noted:
    • The assessment is designed to address a defined scope of risks. Emergent risks, deployment differences, and integration risks with third-party systems fall outside this scope and may require additional consideration.
    • The assessment captures the agreed scope of AI testing as at the time of evaluation. Post-assessment changes and updates are not covered.
    • Accreditation does not eliminate residual risk. Procuring organisations remain responsible for risk acceptance, governance, and the implementation of any supplementary mitigations deemed necessary.
  • Transparency and rigour in documentation are central to the assessment and accreditation process.
  • We will continue to engage with industry stakeholders to refine the criteria and scope of assessment as the AI landscape evolves.

How the accreditation process works

Key things to note:

  • There are no application or accreditation fees. This reflects our commitment to supporting and enabling the growth of the AI assurance ecosystem, and ensuring that the barrier to participation remains low for capable technical testing providers.
  • Once accredited, firms will be recognised as meeting the programme’s standards and may be connected with organisations seeking qualified AI assurance testers.
  • Accreditation is valid for 12 months from the date of accreditation. Firms are required to apply for renewal thereafter. Renewal
    • provides firms an opportunity to demonstrate that they continue to remain competent in the evolving AI technical testing market
    • reflects any updates to the programme’s assessment scope or standards

How to apply

  • The Programme is expected to be available in 3Q 2026. We are currently engaging industry to refine the scope of assessment and welcome early expressions of interest.
